Parrikar bats for air services from Nashik

Nashik: Defence minister Manohar Parrikar has urged the aviation ministry to start air service from Ozar airport near Nashik, a move that can bring the city back to the country's airmap after nearly seven years.
Parrikar has sent a letter to civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, nearly two months after a delegation of Nashik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (Nima) and local MP Hemant Godse met him during his visit to Nashik in the last week of May and discussed air service from Ozar.
The air service from Nashik is waiting to take off for the past six-seven years. The airport terminal is ready, but without air service. Alliance Air of Air India had proposed a Mumbai-Nashik flight recently. But the service from Nashik did not take after GVK denied slots to Alliance Air due to lack of space at the Mumbai airport.
