Gold worth Rs 2.5 crores seized at Karipur airport

Malappuram: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Thursday apprehended a man at the Karipur International Airport and recovered 6.45 kg of gold valued at Rs 2.5 crore from him.

The DRI unit was following up an intelligence input and intercepted Thaslim, a native of Nadvannur, Kozhikode, at the airport and seized the gold bars hidden in the CPU of his computer.

Thaslim, suspected to be acting as courier, was on his way home from Bahrain on when he was arrested by DRI team. The airport sources said that Thaslim was on intelligence radar right when he boarded the plane at Bahrain airport.
