Pushkaram choppers fail to take off

Vijayawada: Helicopter services proposed to be operated by Summit Aviation for airlifting of pushkaram passengers from Hyderabad to Srisailam did not take off as scheduled on Friday. The services will be launched on August 22, according to its spokesperson Ira Narula. She said that the helicopters of the company were in Delhi and they are unable to reach Hyderabad due to adverse weather conditions in Bhopal and Nagpur. "We are confident that they would arrive in Hyderabad in a couple of days," she said.
The decision to operate the helicopters was taken on the advice of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to promote spiritual tourism. Summit Aviation offered to operate the helicopters during talks held by principal secretary, endowments, JSV Prasad with helicopter operators. The helicopter services will be flown on the last two days of the pushkarams from Shamshabad airport.
