Airport bomb hoax caller arrested

Kolkata: A 54-year-old man, Kalyan Bhattacharjee was arrested from his home at Maniktala Main Road on Monday for allegedly calling up the Kolkata airport manager's office ten days ago and threatening that a bomb was planted at the airport. The call was made at 5.59pm and the caller had identified himself as Sanjay. Investigating into the case, police found that Bhattacharjee had called the number using the SIM card of an acquaintance named Sanjay and had damaged the SIM after the call. Probing into the case, police tracked Bhattacharjee on Monday and arrested him. He was charged under sections 505b (Statements conducting to public mischief with intent to cause fear or alarm to the public), 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code and 3A (offence at airport) of Civil Aviation Act.
