After Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that sites in Purandar taluka have received “in-principle” approval from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), residents of the villages, while welcoming the move have expressed anxiety over the rehabilitation project.
A delegation of former MLAs and villagers from Rajewadi village met the district collector recently to discuss the ways by which the administration could acquire land in the area and the process of rehabilitation and compensation.
District collectorate officials said although the AAI has given “in-principle approval”, what needs to be approved is the belt and the areas which will come under acquisition.
While a ground obstacle survey has been approved by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), which will see the government spending at least Rs 40-50 lakh, the area demarcation will take place only after the survey.
