DGCA to issue fresh order on Note 7

India is all set to impose fresh curbs on in-flight carriage of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 — both 'old' and 'new' — as the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ceased making this differentiation, following the fire on a 'new' phone on a domestic flight in America last week.
"In response to an October 10, 2016, statement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission and following a recent decision by Samsung to suspend global sales and exchanges of all Galaxy Note 7 devices, the FAA urges passengers on-board aircraft to power down and not use, charge, or stow in checked baggage any Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices, including recalled and replacement devices."
A senior DGCA official said the Indian regulator will issue a fresh order in a day or two. "We have taken note of the FAA order. We are also studying its advisory on precautions to be observed, while carrying the Note 7 series. A comprehensive order will be issued shortly," said the official.
The DGCA had in October-end allowed Note 7s purchased after September 15 to be carried on board aircraft without restrictions like they be carried only in hand bags in completely switched off mode and without being charged in-flight.
