Rahul Gandhi's flights get delayed twice, Congress alleges political conspiracy

New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was stranded for an hour at Delhi airport on Tuesday after the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the last minute refused to give takeoff permission to the chartered plane by which he was travelling to poll-bound Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district.
This was the second time in a fortnight that Gandhi's flight to a campaign venue in the state was delayed at the IGI airport, with Congress sources alleging a possible conspiracy to sabotage its electoral offensive.
Rahul reached over an hour late at the spot in Muzaffarnagar where he was to lead a road show.
The Congress leader is courting voters in the backwoods as his party strives to rise from a rut after being decimated in a series of elections since a humiliating defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Party insiders told Mail Today that while there might be a political conspiracy, it is a very "cheap and petty one".
