Air India express plans daily Karipur-Riyadh flight

Passengers from Malabar, hit by the lack of adequate air connectivity to Saudi Arabia, can relax as Air India Express (AIE) is planning to increase flights from Karipur to Riyadh from four a week to seven. AIE had commenced its direct flights to Riyadh from December 2 and is operating a Boeing 737- 800 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Airline authorities said that the huge response from passengers for the newly-launched service made them think of turning it into a daily service. "We are trying to put in place the necessary infrastructure to operate daily flights from Karipur to Riyadh soon," said an AIE official.
Expatriates from the region working in the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Jeddah had been hit following the ban on operation of wide-bodied aircraft from the airport due to runway safety concerns from May 1, 2015 onwards.
