For quick access to IGI Airport, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is exploring the possibility of developing a route connecting the two terminals—T1 and T3—with Connaught Place in central Delhi and the neighbouring areas. The land-owning agency has already invited expression of interest (EOI) from consultants for a feasibility study.
The project, proposed in a high-level meeting of urban development (UD) ministry officials, also plans to decongest the stretch from 11 Murti on Mother Teresa Road to CP, which sees heavy traffic during peak hours, through a new route. “The IGI route is the priority as air travel has become common and vehicular load on the existing route has gone up. But the other stretch is also congested and another route is required for easy traffic flow in the surrounding areas,” said a DDA official.
