Gold worth Rs 31 lakh seized at Trichy airport

Sleuths of the directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI), Chennai, seized 1.024 kilograms of gold worth more than Rs 31 lakh from two passengers at Trichy airport on Saturday.
DRI officials received a tipoff that gold was being smuggled on an Air India Express flight from Kuala Lumpur, which also carries domestic passengers from Chennai to Trichy . The officials intercepted two passengers from Chennai, Mohammed Sultan, 25, and Mohammed Jalaludeen, 27, and seized 185 grams and 115 grams of gold bars respectively from the duo.
