Mumbai: An Air India aircraft Boeing 777 was grounded at the Mumbai airport early on Friday after a technical snag was detected ahead of departure.
The flight AI 191 from Mumbai to Newark was scheduled to take off at 1.30 am, but finally departed at 8 am as an alternate flight had to be arranged for the journey.
“There was a delay of about 6.30 hours as due to the engineering snag. So we had to fly in another aircraft, which led to the delay,” an airline spokesperson said.
The flight was carrying 326 passengers, who kicked up a fuss at the airport for the long wait in the night.
Clueless passengers took to social media looking for information on the flight status. A person whose mother, a senior citizen, was travelling on the flight, panicked as he could not get any information about her whereabouts. He complained that customer service was not attending calls.
