Now, choppers to ferry tourists to Butter Festival in Dyara Bugyal

Dehradun: In a first, chopper services have been introduced by the state government for tourists wishing to go to the annual Dayara Bugyal festival, held in a beautiful meadow located in Uttarkashi district of Garhwal. The festival known as Butter festival or in local parlance as Andhuri Utsav will be celebrated on August 17. During the festival, villagers play 'butter holi' with each other in the meadow at the elevation of 3048 meter which is reached after a trek of almost 5 km. Chopper services would be available for this 5-km stretch between Raithal and Dayara.
Satpal Maharaj, state tourism minister welcomed the chopper services at Dyara Bugyal and , said that the butter festival of Dyara Bugyal is as unique and interesting as the tomato festival, 'La Tomatina' which is also held in the month of August in Spain and, thus has all the potential to be world famous. In Dyara, people throw and smear each other with milk , curd and butter.
District magistrate of Uttarkashi Ashish Shrivastava said, "The chopper service has added one more milestone in promotion and facilitation of the amenities for the beautiful Dyara Bugyal."
The service provider Rohit Mathur, owner of Heritage Aviation said that that those people who considered the tough trek of five km as deterrant to reach the bugyal , be it due to their old age or for any other reason, will be able to do so easily with the availability of flights which will within five to seven minutes will drop them to Dyara from Raithal at Rs 2500 and for return at Rs 1500. The flights would start from 6 in the morning till 6 in the evening.
