Accused escapes from airport?

Mangaluru: A 35-year-old resident of Kozhikode, who was allegedly caught by security personnel at the Mangaluru International Airport for illegal possession of cannabis, reportedly managed to escape from the airport on Friday.

But a Customs official denied reports that they arrested any person for possession of cannabis.

According to a senior police official, Mohammed Haneef came to the airport in the evening to catch a flight to Doha. Following a search of the baggage, security personnel allegedly seized 4.5 kg of cannabis concealed in a bag carried by Haneef.

As baggages of other passengers were being checked, Haneef managed to escape, the police official added.
