BTech student arrested for making bomb hoax call

Gurgaon: Police has arrested a fourth-year BTech student of a university in Gwalior for making a bomb hoax call to the airport authorities in September. He wanted to delay the take off of an international flight, on which his nephew, who was running late, was supposed to travel, police said. The accused hails from Zimbabwe, police added.
Police said the Indira Gandhi International airport received the hoax call around 11.42 pm on September 8. The caller said there was a bomb on board a Delhi-Hong Kong Air India flight and that he had overheard a conversation in this regard. He, however, had refused to divulge more information as he was “scared for his life”, police had said.
Police said the accused, identified as Dalton, was arrested on Friday. “During questioning, the accused revealed that his nephew was supposed to take that flight to Hong Kong, but was stuck in traffic. Hence, he made the call,” said Inspector Arjun Dev, SHO, Udyog Vihar police station.
