DCF Srinagar directs Indigo airlines to pay Rs 47,000 for missing baggage

Srinagar:The District Consumer Forum (DCF), Srinagar, has directed Indigo Airlines to pay Rs 47,000 to a passenger who lost his luggage during Delhi to Srinagar travel five years ago.

The Airlines has been directed to pay the amount within one month failing which, the amounts shall carry interest at the rate of 12 per cent from the date of default till actual payment made to passenger, the DCF in the order On Thursday said.

According to case history, a passenger Hakeem Muhammad Sarwar of Nalbandpora, Safa Kadal in the down town filed a complaint before the DCF ( Principal District and Sessions Judge) in 2012 that one of his luggage got missing while travelling in Indigo flight from Delhi to Srinagar on January 12, 2012.

However, after landing at Srinagar Airport, Hakeem could not found one of his suit case comprising the luggage carrying some clothes and valuables. He alleged that despite repeated requests, the Airlines failed to return his missing baggage.
