More flights to take off from city airport

Bengaluru: Already the busiest in south India, Kempegowda International Airport has added more services from here. While Malindo Air will connect travellers to Kuala Lumpur twice each week, DHL Aviation (cargo) will operate to Bahrain once a week from Bengaluru. New services include daily flights by Jet Airways to Amsterdam, operations to Silchar via Kolkata and a flight to Udaipur via Delhi, starting October 29. IndiGo will start two daily flights to Tirupati starting December 20. The top domestic carriers will be Indigo and Jet Airways, while Emirates and Etihad Airways will be the top international carriers.

Bangalore International Airport Ltd has also commenced the winter schedule for 2017-18. During the period, the daily Air Traffic Movement (ATM) is expected to be at 614 flights at the start of the schedule, and will reach 660 flights per day, according to a release. The planned average international movement per day during winter is expected to grow by 7 per cent, compared to the previous season with planned average international movements per day in summer and winter being 72 and 76 flights, respectively. Meanwhile, domestic operations between summer and Winter this year is expected to register 10 per cent growth, with average summer domestic movement per day at 526 flights and in winter, 577 flights. Domestic and international share of flights is projected to be 89 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively for the winter. During winter, the hourly runway capacity will be 38 flights per hour while total movement per week is expected to be 4,577 flights.
