New Delhi: A man has been arrested by customs officials for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold and steroids worth about Rs 69 lakh at Delhi airport, according to an official statement issued today.
The accused was intercepted after his arrival from Bangkok on Tuesday by an Air India flight.
"A detailed personal and baggage search of the passenger resulted in the recovery of one gold chain weighing 76 grams and assorted medicines in commercial quantity," it said.
The value of the gold and the assorted medicines works out to be Rs 69.36 lakh, the customs department said in the statement, adding that the passenger has been arrested.
