Government notifies Mopa PDA

Panjim: The State government has notified the Mopa Planning and Development Authority (PDA) which will include the proposed site of the new international airport.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is likely to head the new PDA to fast track the work of the second international airport, where the first flight is expected to land by mid-2020.
In a notification, Town and Country Planning (TCP) secretary BR Singh has included an area admeasuring 2093 acres under the PDA. The Mopa PDA will include parts of villages of Mopa, Varconda, Casarvanem, Chandel, Uguem and Amberem in Pernem taluka .
The TCP Board, chaired by Minister Vijai Sardesai, had in November recommended bringing the areas under the new PDA.
Highly placed sources confirmed that the Mopa PDA will be headed by the Chief Minister, with Sardesai and Tourism Minister and Pernem MLA Manohar Azgaonkar as members.
