Purandar airport’s DPR set to be ready by end of April

Pune: The detailed project report of the proposed international airport in Purandar is expected by the end of April, while the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited would soon weigh the probability of extending the Metro service up to the facility.
German firm Dorsch — appointed consultant for the project last year — is preparing the detailed project report (DPR) of the new airport. "It has been told to ensure that it finishes the DPR, also called the techno-feasibility study, on time. We are hopeful that the DPR would be ready in the next 12 weeks," said Suresh Kakani, the chairman-cum-managing director of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC).
He said MADC would act as a facilitator and hold talks with different state government agencies on behalf of Dorsch in connection with the DPR. It would help the German firm get data and information from different departments.
After a review meeting with the German firm, the MADC chairman-cum-managing director said talks would also be initiated with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to know if they had plans to extend the Metro project up to Purandar in the future.
MahaMetro is implementing the Metro project in the city. Two routes have been finalized but there is no extension plan till Purandar at present.
