Terror shadow? Double checks irk passengers

A traveller flying in from abroad is subject to security check on arrival at airport, but someone travelling within the country is spared this trouble.

Strangely, at Jaipur airport domestic flyers passengers are checked on arrival as well. Those subject to this discrimination are the ones boarding at smaller cities like Kota, Jaisalmer and Bikaner.

Despite going through security checks before boarding the plane in these cities, they have to go through the whole process once again on arrival at the Jaipur airport.

Everyday around 80 passengers who alight from SpiceJet’s flight from Jaisalmer are taken into security cordon by CISF personnel. After collecting luggage, these passengers are taken to x-ray machine in the check-in area where their luggage is scanned. They can leave only after getting clearance.

The process is baffling for the passengers because they had already got security clearance at the airport in Jaisalmer. However, they are not alone. Similar process is adopted for passengers coming from Kota and Bikaner also face trouble and harassment of twin security checks.
However, airport authorities said that under the rules of bureau of civil aviation passengers boarding at airports where security is not handled by CISF must go through security checks on arrival.
