Bengaluru: Officials of the flying squad with the Bommanahalli police have seized 44 kg of gold jewellery that was being transported to Chennai from KIA on Monday.
They also seized a double-barrel gun along with five live cartridges, and arrested a 45-year-old security guard who was guarding the valuables inside the goods vehicle that belonged to a courier firm.
Acting on a tip-off, officials intercepted the vehicle at Roopena Agrahara skywalk. A search revealed it was carrying 44.28 kg of gold jewellery. “There were no records for the gold, and the company had not taken permission to transport them,” a police officer said.
The Bommanahalli police have booked the security guard, Thimmaiah, the MDs of the security agency and the courier company, and the jeweller.
