Bhubaneswar: The long cherished dream of an airport in western Odisha is soon going to come true as Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved license for Jharsuguda airport.
The existing airstrip at Jharsuguda was upgraded to an airport as part of necessary infrastructure requirement to begin scheduled operations.
“2nd airport of Odisha gets license today. Happy to inform the licensing of Jharsuguda airport today by DGCA. It will pave way for scheduled operations; soon to be followed by Rourkela, Jeypore & Utkela to place Odisha on fast track in civil aviation network,” Joint Secretary at Civil Aviation Ministry said in a Tweet.
