Dum Dum: A 46-year-old woman was arrested at Calcutta airport after being allegedly caught on camera lifting the purse of a co-passenger in the security-check enclosure.
Airport officials said Tanuja Sankhe, who is from Palghar in Maharashtra, was seen picking a maroon purse from the handbag of co-passenger Shikha Roychowdhury at the X-ray counter on Tuesday afternoon. Tanuja was produced in court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody for three days.
The accused was in a group that had visited the Andamans and was returning to Mumbai through Calcutta. She was to board an IndiGo flight to Mumbai and had queued up at the security-check enclosure around 1pm when she allegedly picked the purse.
