Air India staffer held for aiding smuggler

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in two different operations at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) nabbed three persons, seized foreign currency worth 27 lakh and 1.4 kg gold bars on Wednesday. An Air India SATS employee who was in connivance with the smugglers, was also arrested.
Officials said that they caught a passenger from Abu Dhabi as he was in possession of 12 gold bars which he was going to hand over to an airline employee.
"After de-boarding, the passenger entered the toilet in the arrival immigration hall. A person wearing the identity card of Air India - SATS, entered the toilet and received the smuggled gold," DRI officials said. Both the passenger and the Air India employee were arrested.
