Trichy: Air intelligence unit of the customs seized one kg of gold biscuits worth Rs 34 lakh from three passengers who arrived at the Trichy airport from two different destinations.
According to airport authorities, customs officials grew suspicious of two passengers who arrived from Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia early on Monday. When their bags were examined it was found that they had concealed 439.700g of gold cut pieces valued at Rs 13.50 lakh and 289.900g of gold valued Rs 8.90 lakh respectively, inside an adapter of air condition machines.
Similarly, another passenger had concealed 359.600g of gold valued at Rs 11.04 lakh. He too arrived here from Kuala Lumpur by another Air Asia flight on Monday. Customs officials recovered all the valuables and are interrogating the passengers.
