The last 48 hours have been harrowing for 30-year-old learning counsellor Rahul Ghudji, who was locked up at a Kolkata police station with a friend and four seasoned criminals — all for questioning the broken air conditioner on his Kolkata-Pune Go Air flight G8-393 on May 29.
While all passengers were complaining of the heat before take-off, Ghudji and his friend (who did not wish to be named) complained to the crew sternly when they saw a two-year old child had not stopped crying for 40 minutes due to discomfort.
This did not go down well with flight captain Naveen Rahi, who then allegedly misbehaved with the duo and arranged for their de-boarding. He called the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) personnel in and got the two passengers deplaned.
“We were deplaned around 10 pm. It was boiling inside. I could not see that child cry anymore, so I yelled at the crew. The captain came over and started arrogantly reprimanding us,” the Kharadi resident said.
“I got off the flight as the captain was adamant that he would not fly till we left. We were let off by the CISF after we explained what had happened inside flight. I asked my wife to book a 1 am Jet Airways flight for us instead, and as we were waiting in queue to board, around 12.15 am, CISF personnel arrived once more with local police and said we were being arrested,” informed Ghudji.
Kolkata police did not tell them what charges they were being booked under, said Ghudji.
