Air traffic at Patna airport up 42% in 2 months

Patna: Passenger traffic from the Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport in Patna witnessed 42% growth in the peak summer months (April and May) compared to the same period last year.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) recently released a report on air traffic growth of different airports according to which the Patna airport handled 6,67,792 passengers during April-May this year. The corresponding figure stood at 4,70,234 during the same period last year. In terms of monthly passenger movement, the airport handled 3,36,053 passengers in May this year, which was 2,49,894 in the same month last year.
Travel agencies in the city corroborated the claims of increased passenger traffic from the Patna airport this summer. They claimed popular tour destinations included hill stations like Shimla, Darjeeling, Nainital, Sikkim and Ooty, among others. Besides, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia topped the chart of vacation destinations
on foreign shores this time.
