New Delhi: With India emerging as a major air traffic growth centre, foreign airlines have stopped their practice of deploying old planes on routes to the country. Instead they are now using their latest planes and new products on India routes to try and woo the great desi globetrotter. The main fight is for the high-paying business and first class traffic to and from India, given the country’s growing economic prowess. The jury is
still out on whether economy class passengers feel airlines are trying to make their travels more comfortable or possibly less painful.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) will use the Boeing 787-10 services to India. It was the world’s first airline to take delivery of Boeing’s newest Dreamliner variant in March 2018 and claims to be also be the “first to fly” it to India. The inaugural Boeing 787-10 service will start from Delhi on October 28, 2018, replacing the B-777
currently used. SIA flies a daily A-380 to Delhi in the evening.
