Kanpur: Preparations are underway for the inaugural flight ceremony from Chakeri airport in the city to Delhi on July 3.
Since chief minister Yogi Adityanath will launch the SpiceJet flight from Chakeri airport, district administration has commenced preparations for the same. Union civil aviation minister Jayant Sinha and local BJP MP Murli Manohar Joshi will also be present during the launch programme.
DM Vijay Vishvas Pant and SSP on Saturday conducted a meeting and reviewed the preparations.
The last flight from Chakeri airport had departed on May 25 in 2017 after which the airport had been closed down for carrying out the work of maintaining the runway. The flight operations had commenced from here on December 10, 2016 and the flight was launched with much fanfare then. But the flight operations got suspended after six months bringing much disappointment to the denizens.
