Air India (AI), the national airline of India and Avianca (AV), the national airline of Colombia has signed a code share agreement that will come into effect from 28th August 2018. Under this arrangement, Avianca will place its ‘AV’ code on flights operated by Air India on the Delhi-London-Delhi route. Likewise, Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on flights operated by Avianca on the Bogota-London-Bogota route. Travelers will earn miles on these flights in their respective frequent flyer programs: Flying Returns for Air India and LifeMiles for Avianca.
This code share agreement between AI and AV, will be the first and the only one, which will provide seamless connectivity to passengers travelling between the two countries, India and Colombia.
“This new codeshare agreement with our Star Alliance partner Air India, will allow us to continue expanding our network to offer our Latin American customers broader traveling options to the Asian market; furthermore, it is an honor for Avianca to offer passengers originating in India the World Class Service that characterizes us”, said Hernan Rincon, CEO and Executive President of Avianca.
