Civil society writes to Tripura CM to retain Spicejet services

Agartala: After move of CPI-M MP against the withdrawal of Spicejet services from Tripura, leading civil society organisation working on promoting nonmotorized mode of transportation, Agartala
Cycle Club (ACC) has written to Chief Minister Biplab Deb requesting him for immediate intervention.
The letter stated that Spicejet was all set to withdraw its services from Agartala sector from September 1 next, according to the airline's original plan. If Spicejet stopped operating from Agartala, ignoring the request of the state government, Tripura would face serious connectivity issues.
"If Spicejet withdraws it’s service, Indigo will become the sole player in Agartala," the ACC letter
stated, adding that Air India's service wasn't enough in Agartala. The ACC, through its letter, also expressed concerns over abnormal air fares, in the absence of competition."Spicejet's withdrawal of operation from Agartala, will provide monopoly to Indigo and there will be no competitive pricing, and the consumers will be the ultimate losers."
