Kerala floods: How airlines are helping in providing assistance

New Delhi: At a time when Kerala is recovering from one of the worst rain-related disasters in a century, multiple airlines have stepped in to contribute or provide assistance to the people in the southern state. The national carrier Air India has decided to waive cancellation penalties and charges applicable in case of changes in schedule for flights going in and out of the flood-ravaged state up to August 31.  It may be noted that the waiver is applicable on both domestic and international flight tickets issued on or before August 17, said the airline in a fresh statement on Wednesday. Earlier, the airline had announced a similar waiver till August 26.
"The waiver for penalties in case of change, cancellation and no-show for travel from or to Kochi, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram for both domestic and international flights, will now be applicable for travel from August 15 till August 31, instead of ending on August 26. This will be applicable to tickets issued on or before August 17," said the statement.
