Indore: Airport moves closer to starting international flights

Indore: Taking a step towards starting international flights, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport management is making efforts to set up immigration and customs counters within two months. The international flights will start from city by year end.

City airport director Aryama Sanyal told mediapersons on Monday that ministry of civil aviation has granted approval to set up immigration and customs counters here. A proposal to this effect was mooted by her to Airport Authority of India, which was then forwarded to civil aviation ministry.

The ministry has asked union home and finance ministry to issue notification about setting up of immigration and custom counters in security hold area of airport’s new terminal building. Sanyal said that notification by both the ministries will follow direction to customs commissioner, Indore, and Intelligence Bureau (IB) to open counters here.
