Kannur airport to clear licence process by September 15

Kannur:  Ahead of the launch of the commercial operation of the Kannur International Airport, all the
pending licences would be cleared before September 15 and the final aerodrome licence would also be given by then, said the KIAL officials.
The officials said this after a meeting with union civil aviation secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey and senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Central Industrial Security Force, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Bureau of mmigration, Ministry of Defence, India Meteorological Department and Customs Department in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Observing that the meeting was overall positive, the KIAL officials said apart from the domestic flight operations, the clearance has also been given for Indian carriers flying overseas to start their operations from Kannur International Airport. However, the decision regarding permission for foreign airlines is still pending, said an official press release.
