Kerala floods: SpiceJet to operate 76 additional flights

Chennai: SpiceJet will operate additional 76 flights to help passengers affected by floods in Kerala after Kochi airport was closed.

From August 17, the airline will operate new and additional direct flights on Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru-Kozhikode, Male-Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode-Chennai and Dubai-Kozhikode routes. SpiceJet will deploy a mix of both Boeing 737 and Q400 on these routes.

The new flights are expected to lend a strong hand to the rescue operations that are currently on after the Kerala deluge -- termed as ‘one of the worst in decades’ -- left thousands stranded.
