More farmers give consent for airport land

Noida:  The Yamuna Authority on Thursday claimed that 1,300 farmers in Jewar had so far given their written consent to hand over 503 hectares of land for the airport and more farmers had expressed their willingness to part with the land.
On Thursday alone, 115 farmers had given consent to acquire a total of 70 hectares for the airport. The government has to acquire 1,334 hectares in Jewar.
The UP government owns an additional 116 hectares in the neighbourhood. Sources said that 42% farmers have so far given their consent and 28% more farmers have to give their nod to meet the 70% bar before the land acquisition begins. The district administration and YEIDA are hopeful about getting the required number in a few days, though the deadline was August 31. The land owners need to fill a detailed form mentioning their name, complete address, details of family members, details of property and land records, etc. They also need to mention if there are any tenants living on the premises. Further, it must be clearly stated if there is any dispute over the earmarked property. The land owners have also been asked to state their opinion about the airport project. They have to then submit the form with signature of a witness from the village. The district administration and Yamuna Authority also want the land owners to submit their photo and Aadhar card with the consent form.
