No runway at Bihar’s Darbhanga airport, might delay government's ambitious UDAN plans

New Delhi: The Indian government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, also known as the Regional Connectivity Scheme, is far from having a smooth take off in Bihar’s Darbhanga due to a very critical setback – lack of runway.
Construction work at the airport has been stalled due to lack of experts in runway construction.
“The government’s ambitious project is facing obstacles. The Darbhanga airport in Bihar has not been made operational because the ministry is unable to find professionals who can complete the construction of runways,” a senior official in the Ministry of Civil Aviation told ANI.
He further added, “It was an ambitious and popular project, and it was a long-standing demand of many in Bihar. We wanted this project to be completed within this year but now it seems impossible.”
The airport comes under the control of the Indian Air Force and is part of RCS.
