The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued letter of intent in favour of the lowest bidder — ITD company — for construction of a new integrated passenger terminal at Tiruchi international airport.
The letter of intent, issued by AAI a few days ago, will now pave the way for early commencement of the mega project.
The company is expected to depute its officials soon to the airport to establish the site office and mobilise necessary materials and logistics ahead of commencing the physical works, said a senior AAI official.
With the entire exercise going as per plan, construction of the multi-layered new integrated terminal on a sprawling area exceeding 60,000 sq mt is expected to begin next month. The new structure will come up on a site owned by AAI adjoining the existing terminal.
