Bhopal: Better air link mission at aviation minister’s door

Bhopal:The campaign for better air connectivity from Bhopal received a big push with flyers urging the Union civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu to take an initiative into the matter.
In a letter to Prabhu, flyers state that despite having 15% annual growth in footfall, Bhopal still lacks direct connectivity and only four cities are linked with Bhopal, which has a daily movement of just 10 flights.

In the letter, flyers have said that they are pained at the poor air connectivity between Bhopal and other major metros and non-fulfilment of the promise to start and international flights to connect west Asia and south Asia. In just one month, the group has added over 14,000 people from across the globe.

The flyers have also provided data to buttress their demand. “Bhopal is witnessing 15.1% growth in passengers as compared to 2017, that is 22% in every quarter. Despite this, the number of flights have gone down. Last year, there were 22 flights which has gone down to 16 this year,” said a flyer Raj Sarkar.
