To monetise its huge land bank around Shirdi Airport and maintain the sanctity of Shirdi, the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) is planning to establish a budget hotel and a 5-star. The latter is supposed to house a wellness centre with a range of facilities such as meditation, vipassana, and yoga.
MADC will lease out a land parcel of around seven acres for 66 years; the land will be located right next to Shirdi Airport in lieu of upfront payment.
A MADC official said, "We will lease out around two acres of land for construction of a budget hotel and five acres for a five-star hotel that will also have a wellness centre."
The official added, "We will lease out the seven acres in lieu of upfront payment, which means that we will take the lease rent for 66 years in advance considering we need to meet our operational expenses by means of such commercial activities."
