SpiceJet to call off UT operations from October 6

Mohali: At the time when the Punjab and Haryana high court is pressing the Airports Authority of India to increase frequency of international and domestic flights at Chandigarh International Airport, premium operators like SpiceJet are seen withdrawing their operations. According to the flight schedule released by the Airport Authority of India, there are no SpiceJet flights after October 6.
Sources said that the main reason for the withdrawal of the flight operation was the outdated instrument landing system at the airport. Notably, Chandigarh International Airport is portrayed as one of the most advance airports of the country.

SpiceJet has been operating seven flights from Chandigarh — three flights for Delhi and one each for Jammu, Jaipur, Srinagar and Hyderabad.

Five flights were already withdrawn before the airport got closed for runway repairs in January this year. The flight to Srinagar was withdrawn in September and the lone flight to Delhi will now be discontinued from October 6.
