A 53-year-old woman has been arrested by customs officials for allegedly trying to smuggle 900 grams gold into the country in her rectum, according to an official statement issued Tuesday.
She was intercepted on her arrival from Bangkok on Monday.
"Her personal search resulted in recovery of two pieces of gold, crudely given a cylindrical shape, from her rectum, total weighing 900 grams, having market value of Rs 27.54 lakh," the statement issued by the customs said, adding that the passenger has been arrested and the gold seized.
