Construction of auxiliary buildings begins at Patna airport

Patna: The construction work of auxiliary buildings such as technical block, fire station, cargo complex and air traffic control (ATC) tower at Patna airport started on Monday. These buildings will be ready in 18 months at an estimated cost of Rs75 crore.

Assistant general manager (air traffic management) Santosh Kumar at the Patna airport said the ‘bhoomi pujan’ for the buildings was held on Sunday. “The work has been awarded to Surya Nestbuild Limited. The allied structure as well as the terminal building design was prepared by Singapore-based firm Meinhardt (Singapore) Ptv Ltd,” he said.

Surya Nestbuild director Binod Yadav told this newspaper that land clearance work has been started on 7 acre land where technical block, fire station, cargo complex and ATC tower will be developed. The state government had handed over 7 acre of STF land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
