Flight from Dubai lands 20 hours late

Ahmedabad: Passengers set to fly from Dubai to Ahmedabad via SpiceJet Flight S16 on Thursday had a torrid time as the flight was delayed by 20 hours. The SpiceJet flight was to take off at 7.25pm on Friday (UAE time) but finally got airborne at 3.15pm on Friday, airline officials confirmed.
Kunal Shah, who works for a financial advisory firm in Dubai, said, “I was just calling for my cab, when I got the notification from the airline that my flight was delayed by 10 hours and would take off at 5am. I got to get to the airport at around 3am on Friday when I received an email, saying the flight was further delayed by about nine hours and would take off at 2.45pm on Friday.”
Shah, who was travelling for his sister’s baby-shower on Saturday, had planned to arrive one day in advance so he could catch up with family and friends. “Sadly, the flight delay caused my plans to go haywire. When I got to the airport, we were told that the flight was delayed due to a technical problem,” he added.
Airline officials confirmed that the flight landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad at 8pm on Friday.
