Gold worth Rs 22 Lakh seized at airport

Vasco: The Goa Customs at Dabolim airport intercepted an international passenger with gold pieces worth around Rs 22 lakh early Tuesday morning.
Goa Customs said the passenger arrived on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah, UAE. Officials found the man suspicious and he was immediately intercepted. After a thorough check, two gold pieces weighing 755g worth Rs 22 lakh were recovered from him.
An inquiry was held and the passenger was taken into custody. The gold has been seized under the Goa Customs Act. The entire exercise was done under the supervision of assistant commissioner of customs Raghvendra P, and additional commissioner of customs T R Ganalalshmi. The investigation was carried out under the overall guidance of commissioner of customs, Goa, R Manohar.
