Passenger caught with gold bar worth Rs 2.85 lakh at Mumbai Airport

An Indian national travelling from Mumbai to Mangaluru on a Jet Airways flight was arrested by the CISF after a pre-embarkation security check up led to the seizure of one gold bar valueds at Rs 2.85 lakh at the Mumbai Airport.
According to CISF officials, CISF sub inspector Raju Kumar identified a suspicious opaque object in the XBis machine when pre-embarkation security check was on around 5.50 am. The opaque object was kept in the wallet of the passenger identified later as Ejaz Ahmed Qazi. A physical inspection of the passenger was undertaken, and a 100 gram gold bar was found in the wallet of the passenger. He was to board Jet Airways flight S2-433 scheduled to leave at 8.30 am. On questioning, he could not produce any document justifying the gold bar.
“We have handed him over to the Customs officials for further investigations,” a senior CISF official said.
