Visually impaired flyer miffed with lack of assistance

Pune: An associate professor with ILS Law College, who is visually impaired, has levelled charges of non-cooperation and rude behaviour against Jet Airways and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Sanjay S Jain, who had won the President’s Award in 2003, said while the customer care representatives of Jet and KLM did not entertain his requests for assistance, he faced rude behaviour while interacting with another KLM executive.

He had bought a ticket for his journey to the Netherlands on October 24.

“I will attend a two-day conference on disability rights in the Netherlands from October 25 and booked my ticket through a website. The event will be held at the Maastricht University and I was supposed to travel in a Jet Airways flight, which has an agreement with the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, from Pune,” he said.

“I was under the impression that the flight from Pune will be till Maastricht. But after booking my tickets, I realized that I will fly till Amsterdam after which KLM had a bus service until Maastricht. My troubles started from that moment,” Jain told TOI.

Jain first called up the Jet Airways customer care executive and later KLM representatives, seeking assistance to clear the immigration and be on the bus to the final destination.
