No Thai visa-on-arrival fees of Baht 2,000 for short term Indian, Chinese visitors from Dec 1-Jan 31

New Delhi: Going to Thailand for less than a fortnight will get cheaper this winter for Indian holidayers. The southeast Asian tourist magnet has waived visa on arrival (VoA) fee of Baht 2,000 (about Rs 4,440) from December 1 to January 31, for visitors from 21 countries including India, China and Taiwan who will not stay in the country for more than 15 days, agency reports quoted Thai government spokesman as saying.
“About 12 lakh Indians went to Thailand last year, a growth of about 11% from the previous year. Traffic from India is expected to grow now very rapidly as low cost carriers GoAir and IndiGo have started nonstop flights from many places here to Phuket. As budget connectivity grows, travel will increase. Moves like no VoA fees will bolster the growth,” said travel portal Yatra COO Sharat Dhall.
