Ajmer:The parents of Raghuraj Pratap Singh, aka Raja Bhaiya, independent MLA from Uttar Pradesh, were detained at the Kishangarh airport on Tuesday for carrying Rs 11,50,000 in cash, but were released later in the evening after IT officials verified the case.
Airport authorities detained the couple who had come to purchase a horse at the annual cattle fair in Pushkar and summoned the income tax department, as the model code of conduct in Rajasthan prohibits people from carrying cash over Rs 10 lakh.
The couple had checked in at the airport to take a flight for New Delhi on Tuesday.
Sources said the IT team took two hours to inquire about the source of the couple’s income and that they spoke to their counterparts in UP and New Delhi.
