3 held for beating airport officials

Mumbai: Vile Parle police on Tuesday arrested three youths for assaulting two air traffic controllers—Rajkumar Yadav and Akshat Mahalwala—late Sunday. The accused—Vishal Pangale, Sameer Gurav and Rahul Manjrekar—were arrested from a slum pocket in Vile Parle (east). Police have launched a search for five more accused wanted in the case.
Yadav says he had left his home in New Airport Colony to go to the domestic airport for his night shift when he noticed the group of slumdwellers drinking alcohol and blocking the E Line Road, close to Bamanwada slum. “When I reprimanded them, the group of eight overpowered me and began to hit me. My colleague Mahalwala informed the police control room before rushing to help me.”
